Why see a nurse practitioner?
Nurse practitioners were first trained as nurses. In other words, they are trained to take care of you in addition to fixing your illness. They are uniquely suited to listen and talk with you about your condition, especially chronic ones. Their training naturally lends itself to the vast majority of conditions experienced in internal medicine, and when something more complex comes along, they are able to appropriately transition your care to a specialist.
